We had fun although the crowd is a little...um...weird.

We were placed next to a pro-street 1978 Z28 with a Donovan aluminum block, a Weiand 8-71 supercharger and powdercoated Demons.  Great people...anyway some dude comes walking up to the Camaro owner and asks, "So does this thing have a blower on it or what?"  :clueless:

Sure, I understand that...I just wonder about how much crack you have to smoke before you walk up to a car that has a 2 foot tall polished 8-71 Blower/carbs/bird-catcher combo and ask the owner if its got a blower on it  :screwy:  I'm a Bill Engvall fan as muc as the next guy, but HOLY _ _ _ _!  How dumb can a person be?

Anyway, welcome aboard newbie!  Where are you at?

I grew up in Central IL, and it seems like there were never many Mopars around - Mostly Ford and Chevy country there.  Glad to see there are some Mopars now!

And isn't the real sweetcorn festival in Hoopeston?   :poopoke:

Thank you for sharing the pictures!

It's true, Hoopeston is the "original" but no one wants to go there.

I've seen that Plymouth Duster parked at my high school, I swear!  I don't know him but nice car. Haven't seen him around lately.  :dunno: Must be at college.

Speaking of which I want to call out the other guy from Gurnee with a Charger.  Come on man! Show your self!

I wish I would have known about the show in advance, I could have made it.  Is Hoopston H.S. still the cornshuckers?

Cornjerkers, wasn't it?  I have not lived in IL for almost 20 years, but I seem to remember them being the Cornjerkers.
(Must have made for an interesting mascot).   :smilielol:

I think the Hoopeston event was on Labor Day weekend, and they also had a pretty good size car show.  But that was years ago - Didn't mean to start a tangent here.

For those reading who aren't from Central IL, there are two events in that area, both of which are called the 'National Sweetcorn Festival'.  There is the event in Urbana (which the original poster was kind enough to send pictures from), and another in Hoopeston, IL.  Always a bit of a rivalry about which one was the 'real' sweetcorn festival.  (And you haven't lived until you've had sweetcorn from Illinois, but that's a different story).
