Fender switch and relay problem
« on: September 04, 2009 - 09:19:24 AM »
Hello Mopar maniacs, new to the forum and need some expert electrical help.

on my 74 'cuda 360/727 original my starter shorted out and almost caught fire on my -cuda, my only  option was to pull the wires from the fender switch since I was in a  parking lot,
put a new starter on, fender switch, ignition switch, new battery cables, but...
now I'm trying to re-wire the fender switch back correctly and it has another relay right on top of it with a three prong switch and a  ground wire, I am confused on a couple of wires that may or may not  have been correct from the beginning.

I have a wiring diagram, but its not showing the relay on top of the fender switch, and its original, not something someone added  aftermarket.  Can someone help from seeing the photos?

Can someone help me wire the switch and relay from these photos?

Thanks in advance!

The relay is part of a seat belt interlock that prevents the car from starting, it is in this diagram

somehow I'm still lost.

The top relay has a red four prong switch, but only three terminals are present.
The yellow wire in the red terminal i do not know where it goes.

There is a tan wire in one terminal, and the other terminal has the connector but no wire
but there was one before.  I have a ground wire that goes somewhere.

I have two yellow wires, one with a black stripe that I do not know where they connect
I know one of them goes on the fender switch, but not sure where the other two go.

THANKS GUYS!  this is stumping me.

I'll send an SOS to a 74 owner.

I'll send an SOS to a 74 owner.

In response to the SOS.  My Cuda does not have the relay that is shown in the pictures above.  Maybe it's because I have a '73 and not a '74.  I took some pictures just minutes ago.  Look at them, maybe they will help, but I think this is not what you're looking for.  Sorry.
