Anyone have a pic of how the bracket mounts to the rad cradle?

No pic right now, but it mounts to the pass. inner fender, next to the washer bottle. There should be three holes (or dimples in a new inner fender) in a triangle pattern.

That's high-tech 70's emission control.

In theory, the vapors from the gas tank (metal line attached to inner fender)and float bowl collect in the cannister, then go back to the carb (big line at the base) to combine with the other fuel and get combusted (burned).

A vented gas cap has something to do with how it all works also.

Most of these got tossed back in the 80's as another "that thing doesn't work" part of these cars.

I thought that only 1970 Challengers without the California emissions equipment came with a vented cap.  I thought the whole point was to keep the vapors in the tank and NOT let them out into the atmosphere.

Shouldn't they all come with a sealed cap?

 The canister bracket actuall mounts onto the inner fender & it is just a tank that captures fuel vapors from the tank & carb ,then when the car was started it draws in air throught the canister & burns off the trapped vapors , what is rediculous is how much vapor is released into the atmosphere everytime the fuel tank is filled replacing vapor with liquid , even on todays vehicles where they have sealed systems & pressurized testing done to be sure the system is sealed far more vapor is released into the atmosphere just filling the tank every time itme than the vapor capture would have any effect on .... the insanity continues LOL

Not to mention how much energy and material, and therefore all the bad byproducts of the process, had to go into making the parts to recover the fuel fumes.... 

I bought this new fangled gas can and it claims to reduce vapors to the atmosphere...In the meantime the design is SO difficult to use in practice....not to mention that when the can is emptying, the vapor part leaks likea sieve all over the ground....

A lot of states require gas stations to use fuel pumps that recover the vapors.

I noticed that the vapor line from the tank in the pic ran up to the windshield washer tank. Is the that standard for all years? 

Mine stopped at the firewall area on my '73.

My 73 is identical to the one in the pics. Sounds like yours got cut short back in the day.

My '73 has a two part line... about the firewall there is a 1" section of rubber hose connected to the under hood metal line that runs forward & up by the washer reservoir.
