Road Lamp installation ?

    Road Lamp installation ?

    I decided to put my Road Lamps on today, but I ran into a problem.  :banghead:  :pullinghair:

    The brackets are not long enough or something, and when I try and mount the lamps they hit the bumper and point towards the ground. 





    The brackets they sent me where in a box marked “70 Road Lamp Brackets”.  Could they be 71 brackets?





    Or, am I doing something wroung.  :clueless:

    Thanks Barry. but that is how I have my brackets mounted now. 

    As it stands right now I would have to bend the brackets down more than an inche to get the lights not to touch the bummper.

    I had to bend mine quite a bitto get them to fit right.  You're sure you've got the right year brackets?

    Mine had to be bent some. One more than the other to adjust them. I hadnt finished doing that yet either since I was waiting for Jim to finish my switch. To bad , but it all comes back off my car to put it back original

    Here is a view from the rear.  You will have to bend the bracket for correct lamp angle :2thumbs:

    It looks like it, and the boxes they came in said 70.

    So, it looks like I get to bend some metal.  If you look at the bracket picture, you can see that the bracket doesn't even touch the frame (damn after market peices  :swear:) so I will need to bend it two ways, once to get it closer to the bummper and thrn again to aim the light.  :stomp:

    you can also make the holes a bit bigger in the bracket to. It will let it slide down some and does make a difference

    I have the notch too, you just can't tell by the angle I took the shot from.

    I stand corrected.  I don't have the notch.  Are 70 bummpers different from Cuda to Barracuda?

    Something doesn't seem right in this pic Kenny. 2 things seem different. Those brakets look like they are installed on the outside of the bumper brackets, and the lamp is in the jack slot. I think this because it looks like this pic is at the end of the bumper. Also I dont even see the inner brace for the bumper so you could even use a stock jack system.  The picture seem wrong to me... Help me out here

    OK Alan,
    when looking at the picture. To the left is the recess for the front number plate and the bracket frame above is an actual 70 grille brace, part of the 70 only header panel..... i am not sure if the difference from a 70 front bar has a notch and a 71 does not have a notch, but it would explain why the two models do not share the same road lamp bracketry  :dunno: they would mount the light away back and further down on a 71 i guess, so they may have a longer bracket to mount the road lamps :clueless: i am just guessing at this stage about the 71's.

    Is that your car? Which side is that picture of ? Left or right?   Looks like drivers side, or is that the license plate notch to the left of the lamp.  I just dont see the bumper inner brace in that pick for the jack either. Of course im blind

    No that is not my car :grinno: that would be the license plate notch to the left so it is the passenger side we are all looking at in the picture.
