Center Console Auto Trans Shifter Question
« on: September 05, 2009 - 08:20:17 PM »
I finally installed a torqueflite 727 that's suited for my stroker motor. Here's the problem. I LOVE my center console with my sexy aftermarket pistol grip shifter. The transmission has a reverse-manual valve body. I was wondering if anyone has installed an aftermarket shifter  (like a B & M, TCI, Hurst ect) and was able to modify the center console to fit around it?? I hope I am being clear here. I was hoping I could use an aftermarket shifter suited for my reverse/manual tranny and with maybe a few mods (without getting out the wrecking ball), get it to fit my factory console?? :clueless: :dunno: If anyone has done this do you have some pictures?

You can notch the 2nd gear step on your slap stick and make it work for a reverse manual easy :2thumbs:

Somebody makes a plate to change the slap stick to a reverse pattern slap stick but I have not found it yet. Does any one know who that is?

Hey Terry, Cope are not the originators of that plate.... if you look you will notice DMS, that stands for Duncan Motor Sports  here is the link ;) http://www.duncan-motor-sports.com/index.html

I thought that someone also made a new clear plastic gear indicator that was stenciled with the reverse pattern.

Very true. I thought I might trim the vinyl (using a razor knife) from around the letters/numbers to let the light thru. I'll let you how it looks.  :2thumbs:
