just quit smoking.....
« on: September 06, 2009 - 05:44:55 PM »
It`s  been a  struggle for me for as long as I can remember, but today I finally found the courage to say goodbye to my buddy sigaret  :smokin:    and say hi to a new chapter in hopefully a much longer life...
I feel a bit scared to do so but it`s a huge relief at the same time  :woo:   I just swore to myself I will never smoke again...   well... I will smoke rubber....  :burnout:       wish me luck guys...

Congratulations!  I quit many years ago when my kids were still very young.  It was one of the hardest things I have every done but I am so thankful that I did it.  I smoked a pack a day from 20 to 30 years of age.  Stick with it and get some aids i.e. Nicorette or something.  This helped me get over the rough moments.

:bananasmi  Go for it,   :woo:   I smoked many years ago, gave up for 6 months and started again, fortunately when I started to smoke the 2nd time I got really sick in the stomach so I stopped and have never looked back.
Here in   :aussie:  the government have taxed cigarettes very high, the government make more money out of cigarettes than the tobacco companies.   :money:

I smoked for 20 + years but have'nt smoked for almost 15 years now. I used the patches to quit.  Once I quit it took like eight months to feel I was truely nicotine free so stick with it. You won't regret quiting.  Good luck.

Good luck dude. A firend of mine made it one week and then went to bar. He started smoking again that night. I did my best to keep him from smoking a cigarette but another guy was all about helping him smoke again. Now I just call him a p---- lol.

Dutch,

Good for you!  I smoked since 1979 and I wasn't able shake them until my health started to deteriorate.  I'm on my fourth year and glad I quit.  Stay strong and just remember why you quit.

Thanks you all for the encouraging words.  Just finished my first day at work non smoking...  been dizzy as heck all day,   and a bit of a headache but I feeling pretty good , even if it were just for taking the step to quit... I `ve been smoking all kinds of crap since I was 12....    38 now, so its about time... Both my parents were smokers and both died very young...
(  46 and 57 ) and I want to be able to drink a few beers in a pub with my son in a few years and I`ve got a Cuda to finish and drive before I go...  :burnout:

thanks,
Bart
