Yeah, FK5.  That ended up being a color that a lot of people like, and it really does suit the car.  The AAR stripe looks good on it to.  I always thought I would want an impact color, but FK5 is sweet.

Very nice pictures.  Love the louvers.  Are they legal where you live?

Looks to be an aftermarket hood since it doesn't have the typical bow along the sides.  Even though the bow is accepted on these cars I have trouble living with it on my AAR.  I am thinking about stashing the original away in the basement and picking up an aftermarket one.  Where did you get yours from (assuming it is an aftermarket part)

I've never had any problems with the authorities about the louvers.  I'm located in Ontario, Canada.  I've been driving the car for 24 years with no issues and they are factory issue.

The hood is original.  I purchased the car in 1985 and I don't believe they made aftermarket hoods for the AAR back then.
I have the original springs but never had them on the car since I've owned it.  You should keep your original hood on your car, but just keep the springs off.

Again thanks everyone for the feedback!

This may be a stupid question, but did you replace the springs with something else, or is the hood just held on by the hood pins and air pressure?

The reason I leave the springs off is to prevent the fiberglass hood from bowing up or warping from the tension of the springs.
The hood is attached to the arms that allow the hood to be raised or lowered and the hood pins on the front keep it from popping up when driving.

I just use a broom stick to hold the hood up when working on the car or at shows.
I just have to watch my back to make sure the witch who owns the broom stick doesn't steal it back!
