71 Challenger Coupe (making progress)
« on: September 07, 2009 - 08:52:01 AM »
Well, after a couple years and lots of drama I am finally making some real progress.  The 71 Challenger convertible, which was my first project, was a catastophe and most of the car and my investment was lost in a body shop that went bust.  What is left of her is a sad sight indeed.  But, I was able to dig deep $$ and continue on with a coupe.  It is a 318 column shift car but after much thought I decided to go with a 340 and console shift.  I almost left it Gold Mettalic but again, went with what I always wanted; Plum Crazy (I know - not another one).  Anyway, here are some pics because  :useless:

I know first hand of almost losing a car from a body shop mishap. Glad to see that you can still work on something.  Keep it up. I am hoping to do my engine bay and jams with any luck this weekend. So I hope to see more pics from you so I can see what to do/expect.

Made some progress on the engine bay.  It is almost ready for an engine.  The gas tank and most of the plumbing is in along with the brake lines.  Some interior work complete with most of the dash in; minus the pad which is on order through the group buy.  Have lots of parts in the mail as well  :).

Coming along now.   :working:  Finally got the rest painted this week.  The engine is in and the vinyl top goes on this week.  I need a few more items like a nice 340 air breather, a trunck mat, and some good door panels.  I am starting to believe that there may be a Spring cruise in my future.

Very nice. Might be time to change your avatar pic soon!  :2thumbs:

I almost hate to ask, but what ever happened to the convertible?

The vert is completely disassembled and what survived is in storage.  I will be selling it in the next month or so.
