Removal of shock bolt on shock plate?
« on: September 07, 2009 - 10:10:06 PM »
I'd like to remove the stud from the shock plate, but I'm not sure where the staked in part begins and ends.

Does it end where the screw driver is?

It look's like there's a collar that's welded on the side of the shock plate and the stud is staked into the collar and the shock plate.

How do you get these suckers out?

Do I grind away the weld only? Or does the whole collar need to be ground off?

I cut mine off as close to the plate as I could then drilled the correct size hole. Smoothed it all up with a disc grinder To make sure it sat flat before installing the new pin.

brads70,
What did you use to replace it?
Mancini has something, but they want $20 each!
I was going to get a Grade 5 bolt to do the job....
