72-74 Challenger with Shaker Hood
« on: September 08, 2009 - 12:11:20 PM »
Looking for pictures of 72-74 Challenger that has been treated to a shaker hood. Trying to decide if I want to go shaker or Rallye on my 73 and want to see some pics before I decide where to throw my cash. Also - I don't think the shaker was factory past 71, but assume the 70/71 shaker would fit my 73. Is that correct?

Thanks!

If I remember correctly, order a free cata log from the Paddock.  The yellow '72 Challenger on the cover has a shaker set up on it.  There's a full pic of the car in the catalog.  Sorry, can't find a pic on the internet.

Link to Paddock shaker hood page, sorry, no pic.  The hood fits '70-'74 Challengers.

I'd spend the $4k for a complete Shaker outfit elsewhere and keep your Rallye hood.

Make it a pro-touring monster w/maybe an RMS Alterkation, or Fuel Injection, OD transmission, etc.

You can get the hood for around $900 and then a complete shaker scoop assembly from Ben Snober at www.shakerhood.com or from Six Pack Performance http://www.sixpackperformance.net/home.php for $2500. Definitely not a cheap hood, but way cool none the less. I installed one on  my 70 cuda.

There was another thread (can't find it now) similiar to this one about pic's of 72-74 Challengers with shaker hoods. For some reason I couldn't see the pictures that people had found

Can someone email a few of them to ncmrty@gmail.com?

TIA!

I saw a guy at a show who bolted the shaker scoop to the shaker hood and didn't use any if the expensive guts.  Of course it was purely cosmetic, but looked pretty darn good.

That Challenger was at the Nats 5+ years ago and was my favorite car there.  It had the R/T hood on it back then.  I think I like the R/T hood better on that paticular car.

I don't have any more pics of that car. I spotted it at a show here in San Diego last fall.  Ironically there was a thread on Moparts about this very car at that exact time  that was not too favorable. Seems no one lked the big wheels.  It is quite stunning in person.
