Well, I thought I did a good job labeling all my parts 5 years ago but evidently I missed this one. Can anyone guide me on where this part came off of? I believe it is related to the trans.

Do you have a floor shifter? I know it is for the trans for sure.

Okay, make that 2 parts I don't know where to put (so far). This one is about 1-1/2" square. And I think it is also tranny related.

It looks just like the part in this picture but this car is an automatic.

Look at the bracket that is bolted to the frame on the left side of the pic.

It looks like a pivot bracket for the Column Lock Torque Shaft Assembly for a automatic on the column.

the first bracket mounts to the drivers side frame rail and is used as a pivot point for column shift or floor shift lockout rods.

So a 4-speed car shouldn't use that bracket?

Do the newer Challengers use a colomb lockout like that? I don't remember one being on mine.

Nope, 4 speed cars don't use automatic linkage brackets.

Well he said his car was a 4-speed so I thought maybe that bracket was also used for the Z-bar or something.

1970 4-speeds have the lockout also, so it might be correct for that application. It's similar to the auto lockout with a rod connecting to the reverse lever on the trans. Sorry, no pics.

my 70 4 speed would take that simular bracket so to speak. A lever hangs down the firewall to that type of bracket then to a cross shaft over to the bell, then a piece of linkage going over to the reverse rod. The car would have to be in reverse to get your key out of the ignition. If you had headers, they were taken off since it got in the way. So the 4 speed types are hard to get. E-parts sells repops

the second looks like the brace behind the bumperette, but i could be wrong
