Motor Mounts.

My driver's side motor mount just separated (dented my passenger side header tube on the shock tower). Any opinions on replacement items? 440 source has stock type replacements for about 15 bucks each. Is a different construction material from stock preferred? Urethane or something like that?  :clueless:The engine is a 440 with a 484 purple shaft. This winter or next I pan on refreshing it - aiming for about 500hp.

 Been through a few, and found a solid mount on the driver side is trouble free.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I'll go with Bullet's suggestion, those shumacher's are a bit pricey Bigs. LAA66, solid would definitely be the most reliable, but I think a little vibration isolation is a good thing.

I just run a chain from the wp housing down to the k member with a washer and nut to adjust. Total cost is around zero if you have the stuff laying around in the garage

I also run those mag mounts, be aware only the driver side is locking, the passenger side is a normal mount.  They don't both have to be locking though so it isn't a problem.  The driver side is the one that rips, the passenger side actually gets compressed on take off so a locking mount does nothing there.  I noticed no extra vibrations with these compared to new OE replacements, some people say the poly's vibrate more.

Mancinis also have a poly interlocking engine mount
 the other thing i often do as a prcaution is the install a strap across the mount from the block ear to the mount cross pin behind the oil pump , it is vitually invisable & will not allow the mount ot fail

I ordered the magmounts and and couple IAS shocks from Mancini's couple days ago.
Chryco, I had asked in another thread about 'strapping' the motor mount (you and brads70 answered) so I was looking around (not in a big hurry) for some material that would make a suitable strap. When I got home from cruise night a few days ago and saw the dented header and paint burned off the pass. side shock tower I thought, I've gotta ask Chryco what he uses for strap material. Somewhat flexible but strong?

1" wide steel strapping approx 1/8" thick , you have to bend an S into it to clear the oil pump , with no movemnet to shock the strap it will hold easily
