Damn, guys, this is exactly what I wanted to see! :dogpile:

There are so many nice cars out there! I just tend to love the 70s styling of these cars - I love the Dodge Charger but I prefer the E-bodies after 1970.

One thing I have picked up on is a certain (jokey) hostility towards Camaros with Mopar fans - though this may be towards later models?

What do you all think about my idea of buying a 1971 Mustang Grande and doing it up to sell on later on? They seem to be selling for less than half the price of my dream car, and could be a worthwhile project to work on before I go after my ideal ride?

I would pass on it personally. The reason is putting money into it to "fix" it up nice is a push in my book. These cars have a small market so money invested wouldn't really pay out I wouldn't think.

Hmm, yeah, I have thought the same thing. I guess my real reasons are it would be nice to have a solid muscle car to get used to whilst I'm saving. I'd look for one that doesn't need work except for maybe some interior touch-ups. I'd more than likely get an exterior paint-job, recover the seats and that's about it. IF I could find one in good enough condition. It would be my drive until I can sell it on - I guess. I wouldn't be looking for a huge profit, just something to justify the cost.

Of course, I could find a bargain in that time, the car I really want, and spend the extra money restoring that. Who knows?

When I was in High School I had a 67 and a 68 Firebird. I have said that I would like to get another one some day. Don't know if it will ever happen though.

70 Olds 442, 70 Buick GSX, 65 GTO and 69 - 70 Mustang. Never been a big Chevy fan they have some nice cars but "everyone" drives a Chevy so I have always  gone with other brands.

I would save your money for the car you really want.  If you need transportation in the mean time, pick up a cheap, used, newer compact car.  I don't think you'd be able to make much profit on a Mustang Grande after the work you put into it.

I wish that was mine.  I think it's a place called the Candy Mansion up in New England.  It's a weekly show that I'm sure some of the locals up there have been to.  My father-in-law drove the car up there with his dealer friend that had just bought it.  It was our test drive before buying it from him.
