Which clips to use for windshield and rear glass moldings???
« on: September 21, 2009 - 03:17:33 PM »
Hey folks,

My painter tossed my original clips and I need some new ones now.   Can anyone tell me with any degree of certainty, which of these clips do I need to use for the front and back glass moldings?

Also, any idea what size sheetmetal screws to get to hold them in?  Stainless I presume.

Thanks,
Chris

It looks like Year One is selling the first ones for this application, but who knows if their picture is right?   Anyone know somewhere else to look for a good reference?

The ones I used look like the top pic.  I got them at a local body shop and the screws too for about  $6.00 I think................

i got mine from one of the sponsors  here on the site.
i was just at the shop!!   :banghead:
i coulda took some pics of the new ones, and grabbed the part numbers for front and rear.
and mine dont look like any of those, mount wise that is. close but not the same centers.
mine slip down over the existing stud.
if ya dont have the studs, youll need to screw em on, or do as i did, and have a glass guy blast some new studs in, where they are missing.

Bummer,
No studs on my window frames.  There are some little holes for screws, which I'll need to get as well.

Thanks though.

Sorry Chris, I haven't put them on the car yet. Actually, I haven't even taken the stainless off to see if they're the same, It was a leap of faith when I bought them. I was told the windshield has to come out to put them on, that's why the delay.

Alright, there seems to be a consensous that the blue ones with the screws are the correct ones for the windshield.

Are they the same for the back glass trim too?

I wish Altha Fasteners could be more specific with their application.  They are all listed for the same years and application. Great prices though.

Thanks guys I appreciate your help on this.

Before you pay a premium to one of the restoration vendors, you should check here:

http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/

This is where many vendors get their clips. Once you realize the mark-up, you're going to be sick. :puke:
