70 Cuda seat belts
« on: September 23, 2009 - 08:22:13 PM »
I have read here that the seat belts for a 70 Cuda are a 1 year only belt, what is different?   Thanks

The mounting bolts & roof bracket hardware for the shoulder belts are the same for 1971.

Everything else is different.

the most visible difference is the buckles, these lift up to release and the 70's are black textured. 71 are chrome. 72-4 have push buttons

The standard 1970 buckles are textured, but they came in several colors, not just black.

The 1970 deluxe belt buckles resemble the 1971 buckles, but are different. (I think Hemiken has a photo)

'71s are not chrome & they have push buttons too.  ;)

Thanks for the help guys. My car was a race car and I am missing one retractor and one of the double buckles I'm assuming they replaced the driver with a race belt I have the shoulder belts and they have their tags every things else is missing their tags so I don't have any date codes to go by. I would like to find some originals but it looks like I might have to go with repros.

We lucked out and found what I think was a '70 Dart with the '70 E-body style seat belts, so if you're snooping around junk yards, check the A-bodies too.
