Opinions on 73 Challenger Color and NEED PICS
« on: October 04, 2009 - 07:55:02 AM »
I found a painter to do my car ($2500 including materials!). It's a 73 Challenger and was originally B5 Blue with a Black vinyl top. I'm leaning toward going with a white painted top, leaving the option of adding vinyl at a later date. I don't want black because it's hot and sunny here for most of the Summer and the car does not have A/C. Sometimes I waffle between all blue and blue/white.....

It will also have modified White T/A stripes.

If anyone has pics of Blue Challengers with white tops, please post them here!

Morning David,

Blue interior (seats, dash, carpet, headliner), either blue or white door panels.

OK I would go with blue solid too.          However, with a white VINYL top, that would be a nice statement..........

There's a problem I'd LOVE to have!

I don't think I have ever seen a white painted roof with a darker body colour. I have a pic of a plumcrazy convertible with a white top...It looks good,  I'll post if I can find/dig it up.

Well, my seats and dash are blue for sure. I bought new white door panels for my other car, so the old dyed ones might make it to the blue car. The original blue panels are (believe it or not) NOT flaky or chalky.

I used to own a 73 Challenger that was B5 blue with blue interior and a while vynal top.  It was a basket case and I didn't own it very long.  That car was a 318 car with a standard hood.  The previous owner had converted it into a 4-speed.

I would put a white vynal top on it but a painted white top would look very good too.  Personally I would put white 72-74 style strobe stripes on it if you have a Rallye hood for it.  I think I might leave the stripes off all together if you have a flat hood.  Then put some hubcaps on it.  You'd get more people looking at it than if it had stripes and Rallye wheels. :2cents:

I'd go Blue exterior with White interior if those were my choices.

My wife, the color coordination expert says:  With a blue interior, the roof could then be white, and have a white stripe.  IF you go for a white interior, then paint the car all blue and have a white stripe or white trunk stripe/rear spoiler.
The colors of interior/exterior need to flow and be tied in.

Would putting a thermal barrier under the roof have a similar effect to painting white?
