We fired it up tonight, I think God didn't want me to drive it tonight. We got 2'' of snow while I was installing the Lokar throttle linkage....
This thing sounds SPOOKY BAD!!!  The open headers are a bit loud. I was REAL pleased with how snappy it is. It picked up RPM's fast!!!
Here's how she looks...................

Here's the Lokar throttle and kick down linkage, it's too expensive.... BUT, it's very simple and clean as far as installation and function...

I have been wondering why my throtle cable is about a half inch short. You guys just answered the question for me!  I went from a 318 2barrel to a 1973 340 with a edlebrock carb and never changed the cable. :clueless:

looks great.   they sound great with open headers.  if I could do it legally, i would probably run the cuda like that all the time.  :grinyes:  it just sounded nasty uncorked.

Thank God the roads are dry and still pretty clean for this time of year in northern Indiana. I've got an 8:00 appointment with the muffler shop, they're going to put a couple of chunks of 2 1/2'' pipe in there to make the connection. This thing sounds mean, the Flow Masters should tame it a little. It's only about a 5 mile drive to the muffler shop, I hope the Police don't hear me. I'll soft pedal the old girl on this drive.
We put the hood hinges and the R/T hood on last night, I've got some serious tweaking to do. So far the fit sucks, I may need the help of a body guy to get this mounted and lined up right.

Glennster,
Would you mind posting the details of your stroker? I'm in the process of building a 414 stroker myself and I'm curious what pistons/cam/heads etc you used. I'm sure that others would be interested too - especially since it sounds "spooky bad".

mrob,
It's got the Mopar crank, Ross pistons, and rods from a Chrysler 273. We went with a solid lifter, short duration cam. It's a Comp Cam, duration .274-.280,  lift .502-.511 .  The idea was to have fairly light rods and pistons along with a solid lifter cam, this would hopefully get me an engine that would rev real quick, with a bunch of torque that starts real early. It seems very good for the street. It has the 2.02 J Heads, I think there was some minor work done on the heads. It's got 9.5:1 compression. We went with the Hooker Competition style headers with a ceramic coating. The fit on these headers was great, there was no hammering or denting the pipes to make them fit. The only mod was going with an extra exhaust gasket on the driver side to get the pipes away from the starter. The intake is an Edelbrock RPM Air Gap, it's got the Edelbrock AVS 800 Carb. I've only put about 20 miles on it so far, but I'm very please with how responsive the motor is at low speed / low RPM. I was afraid the this carb was a mistake, but for street driving, I think we have a very good set up. I did not build the motor, I got it from a good old boy in Ohio.
I've got 323 gears, they seem pretty good so far, I'm not going to get any decent 60 foot times with it, but it seems great for the street so far.......

YES ! ! ! ! ! ! !
We got the pipes connected, God bless the Flow Masters, they sound great!
I had a guy help me with the hood, it's better than it was, but still needs some more love. Once again, I am completely humbled by the body guys.....That body work is an art, I don't think I could ever be good at it...........
We got the hood lined up pretty good, but it looks like the hood has a slight radius on the top and the fender does not. The back and the front of the hood taper down and match up kind of close, but the center of the hood is slightly taller than the fender. I don't know if you should shim the fender up to meet the hood or if the hood should be bent down in the middle to meet the fenders. For now, it will be OK..........

This as been the case on both of my cuda's.  So many times I've heard that this is natural from the factory  :blah: :blah: :blah: .  I personally can't stand it but have no solution to offer.

The funny thing is that every survivor car I have seen (which is only a few) had very nice body panel gaps and great hood alignment. I think a lot of times it is the way people store the hoods off the cars or rough handling.   :dunno:

Glennster,
Thanks for the response. Your cam sounds similar to the one I'm thinking about (Comp XE275HL, 275/287 duration, 0.525/0.525 lift). I'm also going to have around 9.5:1 compression, so choosing a shorter duration cam is better for street driving.
As far as your hood alignment is concerned - Have you tried adjusting the hood hinges? They can be moved down which should help your situation. My Cuda had shims from the factory under some of the fender studs, so that may also be an option if adjusting the hood hinges doesn't work.
