I have 3 A833OD cores for sale...lol.
What are the stock gear ratio's in a 833OD? Are they all the same or do they have different ratio's?

Thanks Moper!
Alan  I think your right with a stock 833OD you would go through 1st pretty quick!
I like the Passon ratio's better!  They say they will sell you just the gear set too! http://www.passonperformance.com/NewProducts/Passon%20Overdrive%20Flyer.pdf

oddly the long tailshaft version of the 833 OD is .71 in OD & the short A & F version was .73

I was more interested in the first 3 gears, not much difference between .73 and .71

yeah, there's a big drop from a 309 to 140  isnt there?  Need a good tq bottom end. 727 is 245 stock for first. and a 23 spline 833 is a 267  18 spline is 268 first.  That 309 is like a granny gear almost

Yeah, Jamie had the gears made that way. It eliminates the major drop from first to second in the factory set. They did the low first with the OD for mileage, not power. Plus, the 3.09 first was a gearset they had already run in some early A 4speeds. The best core trans is the truck OD. That is aluminum case, iron long tail with B style front shifter mount. A standard B/E tail will bolt on it and you get the correct E shifter mount and OD.

Cool thanks for the info! I'm kinda new with Mopar trannys so I appreciate the input! When you buy one from Passon do you need to give them a core?

Why don't you try a standard 833 OD first. I traded a dana housing for my 1st one, then paid $75 for my second one. They are all over the place and will save you about $2000 or more if you don't have to get one from Passon.

Brad, the ratio of my stock A833OD is 3.09, 1.65, 1.00 & 0.73.

My Passon HemiOD is 2.65, 1.55, 1.00 & 0.80

like it was already said - try the stock OD unit first as they are dirt cheap and give you an ideaof what you aregetting into.I can say though at 3.73 ratio in the rear, I would not want any lower ratio. 3.91 would be great if you are using an 8-3/4.
