The big split  isn't bad for a cruiser, for general aggressive driving it gets old.

Brad, the ratio of my stock A833OD is 3.09, 1.65, 1.00 & 0.73.

My Passon HemiOD is 2.65, 1.55, 1.00 & 0.80

like it was already said - try the stock OD unit first as they are dirt cheap and give you an ideaof what you aregetting into.I can say though at 3.73 ratio in the rear, I would not want any lower ratio. 3.91 would be great if you are using an 8-3/4.

Thanks for the feedback! I just bought  and installed a 3:55, - 8 3/4 rear end.  I always figured for a street car with 1st gear when you multiply the rear end x 1st gear ratio I look for 9-9.5. I have a 86 Buick with a 455 and a T-10 in it with 3:90 rear gears . First gear is almost useless!  I take off most of the time in second gear if I'm just driving normal. Really the 833OD is a 3 speed with an overdrive?

the 833 od is the same as the 4 spd with 4 ratios but third gear is the od ratio so you shift it 1-2-4-3 but by flipping the lever on 3-4 the pattern inside the car is the same

What ratio's did the regular 833 have? Were they like a T-10 with multiple ratio's or was there just 1? Just curoius!

5 Different ratios most were 2.66 1st gear , 1 version was 3.09 1st
 the ratios only varied slightly between most of the regular 4 spds
