B5 Blue Paint on My Challenger! Stripes Too!
« on: October 14, 2009 - 09:17:54 PM »
I found a local guy who does good work. He's well into my 73 and we put the doors back on today after he painted the jams and doors yesterday. Here's a pic and a link to my photobucket album. (I did the engine bay back in June.) He thinks it will be done by Monday.

Is that B5?  It looks darker/grey(er) in the first pic.  Whatever it is, I like it  :2thumbs:

Hey Steve..........that is looking great.   Do you have a time line to actually get on the road again......??  On mine I did a lot of work on other things  while the car was at the paint shop.   When I got mine  back in about Sept or so........I was able to put tags and drive at the end of Feb....

It IS B5, yes (71-73). The light in the shop was pretty bad and it was rainly out, so the blueness didn't show up well. I wanted to show how "wet" the clear looks.

I'm a little afraid the color got mixed a little on the light side with too much silver in it, but it's not going on a Hemi or Sixpack car, so I guess I can live with it.

Hi David...

I don't have a definite "gotta drive by" date, but if I keep on it and get the trim and seals back on in a timely fashion, it should only be a week or two before I can go for a drive. I still have the dash and interior to tackle, but most of that is ready to go. (Fresh paint on a spare dash frame, different buckets that are done, etc.)

Thanks (from my painter and me) for all the compliments!

I helped Bam (my painter) hang the fenders, finish blocking and taping the car for final paint. Got the call this morning at 8 that it's done.  :woo:

Will go over later today for a look and some pics. Wetsanding and buffing will commence tomorrow or Monday.

Still need to figure out how to fill the driver's side fender gap with seam sealer, but that can wait until she's home.

Here she be........

I'm very pleased with the job except for there not being a lot of paint on the front/rear window frames. He'll finish the wetsanding/buffing Monday, but wanted to show me a "sample". Can't wait to see it outside in the sunlight.

Looks really nice, and very familiar - I've done mine that same B5.

Under different lights it looks quite different.  I have halogens in the workshop and they even make it look a little bit green !
