Convertible guys....wondering about torque boxes
« on: October 15, 2009 - 04:41:42 AM »
For those guys with convertibles, I'm having a bit of a debate with a friend over torque boxes. So my question is, where were torque boxes located on convertible Mopars and if you have pictures, please post them. Thanks!

Yes they were supposed to get them. Although I have seen them without them. The factory was not all that perfect.

There is an old thread around here somewhere with some really great pics of TQ boxes installed.

Here is the best picture that I could find of a set of torque boxes on an E-Body.  The rockers on a convertible also have extra re-inforcement (Double Lined) for added strength.

Hope this helps...

Here are some pictures of the boxes, these are not on a convertable but would be the same on a convertable. These are from a 71 sixpack Cuda.

Well the main debate between me and my friend is he said they didn't come with front torque boxes and I say they did....so proof of front torque boxes would be awesome (the pics there right now are doing the trick too :2thumbs:)

It sounds like Per has answered the question.  Sounds like your buddy was right.  I just wonder if this were the case 100% of the time.  Maybe you and your buddy are both right in the debate.

My 1971 383 2 bbl automatic Barracuda vert has the front and rear torque boxes just like Farmboy's pictures (well, not quite, his are nicely cleaned and painted).
