I went to a charity event today which included many events, live music, dance exibits, karate exibits and a car show all to support Relay For Life which is in part for cancer research. It was cold and overcast, but no rain, so not as many cars as expected showed up. last year it was packed and overflowing. I got there early and later in the afternoon went into a video store to warm up a bit. When I came out the fella parked next to me in a pristine 1975 Dodge Adventurer 4 x 4 truck told me I had won best in show. I was floored and the awards weren't supposed to be given for another hour. I see cars at shows that I know have well over 100K invested in them and they are a work of art and are wonderful to drool over. I luv my car and have spent countless hours and a lot of hard earned money on it and I take pride in it but I can't compete with those 100K-plus babies. There was a 2007 Corvette that I know had at a minimum 100K invested (custom paint and custom engine), but he only stayed about 20 minutes and didn't register. I know he would have won. I was speechless when they gave me the award. I also was given a very nice new lightweight hydraulic floor jack. I love doing shows as I enjoy the company and I don't really care if I get a trophy as it is a charity event, but it's always nice, but I've NEVER got a Best in Show, so it was an AWESOME day!
