Hello 10s here I come!!!
« on: October 17, 2009 - 06:47:19 PM »
After 2 1/2 years of flawless performance I'm pulling the engine down and sending the heads and intake off to Ryan @ Shady Dell for a complete work over. He'll also be setting me up with a much better camshaft as well. The short block is recieveing a check over with new rings and bearings. I also bought a complete rear suspension kit from Calvert racing which includes their mono leaf springs, Rancho nine way shocks and Caltrac bars. And no Jason I dont have a Dana yet but that could change before winter is over. Ryan says that tuned right the Cuda should run easy mid 10s at around the 125 mph range in the quarter and still be very streetable. Needless to say I'm pretty excited!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Thanks! I going ahead and doing the suspension work next week if the weather holds out. I'll probably run it one more time to see if I can get some better times out of the current combo. When I ran 11.38 it was extremely hot and humid so I think with cooler weather and the Caltracs I should be able to hit bottom 11s like it sits. I told Ryan to expect my parts by early December. By then the local tracks will be closed for the winter.

According to Ryan my cam is the biggest hold back that I have. Its just an out of the box deal but is extremely streetable. Although I am really hopeful of high 10s before I tear it apart we all know 4 tenths is alot to pick up with just better weather and better 60 ft. I know there is one Cuda that looks alot like mine (also a 72) that has been out there a few years that runs high 10s and has been in a couple of magazines. The big difference is that he has Indy heads, tubular k member and aerospace brakes. Too bad I cant afford all that!

I think we are thinking the same one... it had a black stripe down the side...... if thats it he had alot of time and tuning with that car....  make sure you get that 5"'s of travel dave as he had caltracs also.....  :2thumbs:

Yeah that is the one. It had the stock 72 stripes down the side and the black out treatment on the hood. Given the parts he had (Indy heads to name a few) and what I know now I would have expected his car to be alot faster than that but still a very nice ride. BTW I measured the travel on the front end of the Cuda today and I have 5 1/2 to almost 6 inches so I should be good in that department!
