Street Legal Bumper Cars
« on: October 20, 2009 - 01:38:39 PM »
This is so cool, you've gotta read it. A man in California (Tom Wright) has taken bumper cars from the Long Beach Pike Amusement Park, restored them and powered them with a 750cc Honda or Kawasaki motorcycle engine. They seem to be on a 4-wheeler (quad-runner) type frame. They are street legal and have been determined to be capable of 160 mph!! That's darn scary in those little buggers!! Check the story, pictures and link below. These things are awesome!! I'd love to have one!! :woo: :burnout:

Those things look pretty neat.   :2thumbs:  I wonder how they would run with a warmed up 340 calling the shots?     :burnout:

Oh yeah, wheelie bars would be mandatory....

That's pretty cool!  I wonder what they go for?  :clueless:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.

Well after some research what I have found is that there are at least 8 of these bumper cars running around San Diego and they are all owned by the same family. The first one cost (are you ready for this) $50,000 to build! Now I am sure that the subsequent cars were less to build, but wow. I would love to have one. I showed my wife, and now she wants one.
