FAST's EZ-EFI Fuel Injection
« on: October 21, 2009 - 05:31:54 PM »
I posted this in Gordon's thread but wanted to get this out there since I have lots of friends that see my setup, then are asking how to get fuel injected for gas mileage and performance. Since I fuel injected my car, I don't have to let it warm up before I drive it. I haven't changed my plugs in over 5 years. Change my oil once a year. The benefits are endless.

This seems to be the current favorite system for ease of installation and programming and "should" fit under your stock air cleaner. If I didn't have so much invested in my 4 other systems, I would start with this one. You can run your stock ignition and distributor with it.

There is an article in the December Hot Rod Magazine about installing the FAST EZ-EFI system.
They also have a Web video in 3 sections here:

I just bought the EFI Six Pack setup from F&B with evertything else from FastMan.  May have to wait until spring to have it put in, but I'm going to try to squeeze it in this year.

can you post a pic of your stuff before you install it?  I always thought of running 3 2-bbl throttle bodies.

:wow:  This is the same system I want to use on my 440 build.  I won't be able to put mine on for a few years, so I will be watching yours with much interest.

I have the stuff from FastMan but I won't have the manifold and throttle bodies until the first week of Nov. I'll post pics as soon as it comes in.

That looks Sweet! Let us know how it works out.

Holley just released info at SEMA about their new EFI setups scheduled for release the 1st quarter of 2010. Here is some info. They also have a self tuning EFI and are now trash talking the FAST system.

The new Holley stuff looks great. Lots of input and outputs and very flexible. I have yet to try any of the new systems and their "self tuning" features. My next purchase may be one of the Holley systems once they are able to control more trans than just the GM ones.

What's the ballpark figure on cost? (Not including pump/gas tank & fuel line mods.)

No word an price yet. Just so you know, the FAST system deosn't control ignition at all. But if you are happy with your vacuum/mechanical advance now, the FAST system is the way to go. I see EZ-EFI going for as little as $1725.00 at Fastmanefi.com

Just a word of advice here for anyone looking to purchase from F & B:  You had better be prepared for unkept promises, lack of communication, failure to return phone calls and drastically inaccurate and missed ship dates.  Also know that "in stock and ready to ship" does not actually mean that the item is in stock and ready to ship.

Having said that, Rich from FAST was great to deal with.

I start my carb motor and let it "warm up" for 20 seconds at around 2,000-2,500 rpms and its good to go..a bit choppy idle at first but strong and doesn't stall even in gear backing out of a turn around garage with tight space around.

Even with F.I. you should change the oil more than once a year.

Stock ignitions with these newer plugs can go years without changing plugs--my MSD 7 seems to "eat" the plug metal so I replace once a year..and all plugs are nice and clean.

I can't say carbs get better mpg but I have hear its not always that big of a difference, heck the new Viper is a gas hog and has F.I.

Some guys claim carbs make more peak power.

Too me F.I. isn't worth the cost to switch over to even try it, I'm keeping my old school dual carters that run pretty darn good in all type of weather from cold to hot weather with just a quick change of metering rods--secondaries jets seem to work fine year round without changing...unlike my Holley / Demon carbs in the past.

if you want to keep your engine long term, its always best to warm up with carb or EFI. Its hard on a engine to hit the throttle before its warmed up and at operating temperature. but to each his/her own.

I drive all of my new cars and fuel injected cars right after starting them up.  The only time I warm them up us if I want to be warm when I get in them. Everything these days seem to last forever so I don't think it hurts anything to drive them while they are warming up.
