Need some feedback about shaker and fan
« on: October 25, 2009 - 01:52:44 PM »
1.where is the exactly position, where the shaker cables go thru the firewall?
is there a predrilled hole?
2. where are the exactly mounting positions for the shaker baseplate feet?
3. I have a 7 blades fan, it touches the fan shroud from the 26" core.
Witch type smaller than 18" you can recomand?
It should not be too loud, but with enough cooling.
Thanks for your support

I believe that 71 is the only year that has both the shaker cable and the Hemi choke cable coming out of the same hole.

I don't have measurements but here's a picture.

The original clutch fan combo is the right length. There are different shaft lengths on different clutch p/ns. Small blocks had a longer shaft length than Hemi or Big block. This one is a big block

Super fast answers, thanks.
About the fan, its not scratching on the radiator but on the shroud.
Some advice for a brand of the fan?

Where on the engine are the shaker feet mounted?

On the Hemi they had the receiving ends on the top of the valve covers I recalled from a pic I took of one from a survivor. Now I can't find the pic, darn it!

In any case, once you have welded on the halves (bracket A) onto the shaker base plate, put on the others (bracket B). Them put a small dab of paint on the base of each foot.
Put everything together. Your paint should leave a dab onto where they need to be situated.

As far as fan and clutch, I prefer OEM looking ones. Last 3 digits: 070 is a 70' unit. 112 is a 71'.

Take your pick. If you need an OEM re built, there's a contact I have to get them done. But it's an 8-12 month wait for them to return.
