Well I pulled the trigger on the semi finished stage 6 heads on E-Bay!
1Bad Mopar I hear what you are saying about the spring pockets, that's why the semi finished heads are what I went for. I can get longer valves from Manley and not cut the spring pockets so deep! Manley makes them for the Indy heads! 5.344" long instead of 4.870"!
This also should allow me to port the roof higher too!
Can't wait to get them and start machining them!! Handy to have a mill in the garage some days!
Great going Brad, Keep us posted as you do different things with the heads and what ideas you have when it comes time to machine them buddy. :2thumbs:

I finally got them home and am happy with them so far! They will have to sit for awhile till I have funds to build them. :(

Great to see they made it home with you. There is an incredible amount of material in the runners, if you can feel down the intake runner and in a pinching hold, feel how thick the roof of runner is to the valve spring seat area, those heads have plenty of potential :2thumbs: when the time comes, you can play then.

Ya I see what you mean! Feels like 3/8 or so! I'm going to go with the longest valve that fit to take full advantage of that too. I was looking at Comp Cams beehive springs?
I brought them to a buddy of mine who builds race car engines and he was drooling too. He can't wait to get started! We sat down and figured out some of the math from an old pair of 915 cast iron heads he has laying around. I am responsible for drill and reaming the valve locations to 11/32 and he will do the rest. At this point I don't think I'll go with the 2.250 " intake valve. This will be just a street engine and I'm assuming it will make more power than the tires/chassis can handle anyhow. These came with all the seats and guides although they are for 3/8 valves I most likely will use them. Lots of valve  brand choices!
Lots of burrs to remove but that's expected.
Thanks for putting me onto these Kenny! :2thumbs:

The outlay for the guides is not all that expensive, go with the 11/32, you will be better off this way. I gave my set of 3/8 guides to Alan, as they were no use to me for what i had planned.
There is a multitude of potential, take full advantage even with a smaller valve, remember to locate the intake valve in the best location with enough room to go larger for a future overhaul if the oppertunity arrises Brad :2thumbs: i would be interested in measurements and progress as you go with yours if you did not mind sharing the info please

Well I got off my butt and started them. They go off tomorrow to get seats installed, new 11/32 valves, springs, retainers, etc.... and ported! :woohoo:   I machined the valve seat area to the ID size of the valve seats so we would have some idea now how much has to come out of there. There is lots of material to remove! :grinyes: I moved the valves away from the rocker shafts by .035" and spread the valves apart by .020" from the stock locations. I took me quite a bit of time to make the fixture for holding the heads square. Valve angle is as stock 15 degrees.
Sure is fun to have some equipment in the garage! Comes in handy!
Here is how they started.

Tooling ball was used to find valve locations of a stock head

Here is the finished head, or as far as I'm machining it too.

Found a nice article from Mopar Muscle, mostly on the Chapman version.

Hey Brad,

That is wicked that you have started work on your stage VI heads buddy, have you done any more work since these pictures. That link to the Chapmen heads is unreal, i was thinking of asking them how much it would cost to have my heads machined by them :dunno: i will have to ask.

Hi Ken!    Yep actually today I installed the valve seats in one head at my buddy's shop.( he builds race engines) Used .006" interfearance fit. Put the seats in a freezer, and heated the head up to 350-400F. Also the 11/32 guides are in and partially ported. I'll take a few pictures soon and post them. I'm patially finishing one head to ship down to T&D to get fitted for a roller rocker set up. Milling off the rocker stands and installing a bar set up that uses rocker arms in pairs instead of the stock shaft set up.
I'm really liking thses heads, seems almost a shame to install them and hid all the work!  :smilielol:   Driving down to Mucsle Motors next week to pick up the stroker kit and a bunch of other goodies, so that's why I'm rushing the one head as I'll ship it while I'm in the USA
( cheaper). Plan is to pick them up at Canadian thanksgiving while visiting the inlaws in PA  (if T&D can finish it up by then ?- couple weeks?)
There is a ton of material that gets removed! They really are looking like something now!  :droolingbounce:
Sure is handy having a mill in the garage!  :2thumbs:
