Finally at the point where I am putting it back together. It makes all the hard work worth it.

The car started out as a 74 challenger. I decided to clone it because the rust was so bad in the rear of the car. The vin will remain the same and it will always be a 74.  I choose the green go color with the black top because of a challenger t/a I saw with the same color combination back in 80's. I plan to make it a retro mid 70's car with nos vintage decals in the quarter glass, nos air shocks and cragar wheels with the 70's style tires. I plan on putting a 340 six pack in it in the future. I still have to purchase the carpet, seat covers etc.

:iagree:  I can't wait to see what it looks like!

I sort of have a similar alter ego to my car.  My '72 is pretty stock but I have a set of  Keystone Klassics, '71 style Go Wing, air shocks, hood cut out for a Mr. Gasket Street scoop (with the 3 red butterflies).  I acutally had all sorts of vintage racing stickers on the quarter glass (from the original owner in the 70's) but took them off for the factory look.  The only sticker I left on was the "Hi-Jackers" air shocks bunny.  I've been to World of Wheels shows and can't find anyone who has them.  Glad I didn't take em off!

Love the Go-Green color!

Looks good.  What size rims do you have on the back there?

NOS Air Shocks?????

Love the color.  Looks like you went to a lot of effort to put the 70 rear tail light assembly on.  Maybe you could tell us what other 1970 modifications have been done (planned) and your experiences (good & bad) making it all come together.  More pics would be great.  Like what I see.

The rims are 10" wide by 15. The back spacing is only 3". I plan on buying Cragar's with 4'1/4 backspacing. Since I cut the whole back of the car off, I found a 1970 tail panel attached to a trunk floor. I welded the whole thing in and then put on new quarters. I had to patch the middle of the trunk with some repo's. This was before the reproduced the whole trunk floors. I found a set of N.O.S. Monroe air max air shocks that you can see in ads in vintage hot rod mags. My goal is to make a challenger that looked like one  back in the mid 70's with N.O.S. vintage aftermarket high performance parts and vintage decals for the quarter glass. I am also going to find a N.O.S. 8 track player that I will mount on the floor. I though I would do something a little different. This is my first attempt at a restoration. I think I have had to do everything twice. Thanks for all the compliments.

I like the way that the blackout on the tail panel goes all the way to the top of the quarts an trunk. When I re-do mine on the "Ratty R/T" project, I will for sure remove the trim and do it right!

Great minds think alike...  ;D  It's from the original owner, installed in the 70's.

Don't forget the fire extinguisher on the tranny hump!  :grinyes:

Nice work, aren't the roof mouldings SE version? You also have the SE tail panel, don't you.
