steering wheel retaining nut
« on: October 28, 2009 - 06:58:49 PM »
I am trying to rebuild my steering column on '72 baracuda w/o tilt. It needs a cam for the signal and a new ignition lock. I popped off the grant wheel ad grabbed an extension to remove the steering wheel retaining nut. The crush can will only allow me an 11/16 through the opening and it does not appear to be large enough. Is this a magic nut...?

well it should take like a 7/8 socket.  They may have welded that piece on after install. You may need to cut the hole bigger off to the left side.   Push a rag through the hole, then use a die grinder
