6 pack carb numbers
« on: October 30, 2009 - 05:28:17 AM »
i need help with carb numbers ,  now a 70 t/a auto carb numbers should  be ....4790/4792? now the next number is the day the carb was  built? so were the carbs dated last digit 0? meaning 1970 or were they 69 year carbs?or could you get both / either 69 and 70 date codes ,or a mix of both? being my t/a was built  3/31/1970 , its not possible that the day coding could be after build date of vehicle?to make them the right carbs? so 1970carbs would be  t/a auto
4790 f&r
4792 centre

and the day coding could only be up to.......0910...meaning up to 31/3/1970? does this sound rite?
T/A AND R/T............... IM GREEDY.

the carbs typically would be dated 3xx9 approx or early 0xx0 to be on a production T/A, there haad to be a lead time of a month or more to get the carbs manufactured & out to the factory for install so something as late as 0600 would be unlikely to be original
Correct me if I am wrong but the F & R carb have different # 4790 F & 4791 Rear , I know the big block carbs have a different # & I am virtually certian the small block does as well as I alway find the front & rear carb reversed

The carbs on my '70 AAR are 4790 & 4789.  What is the difference anyway?

oops I knew the carbs were 1 # off ok so 4789 is the front carb & the rear is 4790
I am not sure exactly what the difference is between the two but the higher # belongs in the rear & I often find them on wrong

I'm assuming that's the numbers above the carb number.  They are

0890 for LIST-4789
0850 for LIST-4790
