« on: October 31, 2009 - 07:37:37 AM »
Hello again. I was wondering if anyone knows how to delete the ballist resistor due to having the msd 6al box? An elecky told me u dont need it with the msd! Is there a simple diagram i can look up as i dont have a manual? Im running a 318 4 speed in a 1970 challenger! Any help really appreciated as im trying to make my ride reliable till i can pay an elecky big $$$ to redo the whole lot!!!!!

Hey guys,i just pulled out my harness that runs from the alternator horns etc to the fire wall. The alternator wire has fried itself so im checking and replacing all wires associated! Does someone have a wireing diagram for the engine bay? Theres a few wires thats not used? Would be nice to no what there for????

Well i have her running and charging now. phew!!!!!! Ballist resistor is bypassed...... I just dissconnected the wires and it runs???????? Now heres the problem........ I cant turn it off????? The small red wire coming from the msd box is connected straight to battery power. When i take it off it shuts down. This is the problem i had when the alternator wire fried up??? Should the brown wire that went to the ballist resistor be hooked up to the small red wire for msd???? Can anyone shed some light please????????

Based on the diagram on the MSD sheet, the large red wire is hooked to battery.  The small red wire is attached to the wire you took off from the + coil side.  I don't know what color that wire is, but it is the ignition source of power controlled by the key.  Go back to the link with MSD instruction and diagrams.

the smaller red wire needs to be connected to both the brown & blue wire at the ballast , the blue is consatnt power & the brown is power while cranking
