Opening a locked trunk
« on: October 31, 2009 - 07:28:47 PM »
The trunk lock on my '72 Barracuda is shot and I cannot open it with a key. My friend said something about a bar running behind the plate light. Can anyone advise a good way of opening it or have a diagram?

If you remove the upper portion of the back seat you can see whats going on in there. Get your extensions out and remove the bolts for the trunk latch to the body.

It is faster to tape a standard screwdriver with a thin tip to a broomstick, insert the tip into the lock slot & twist.

No need to readjust the latch afterwards that way either.  :naughty:

I wasn't sure if the challenger was the same as the 'cuda. i thought my cuda wouldn't turn with just a screwdriver. However it's been forever since i have had the stock latch in mine (electronic now)
