Bead locks on aftermarket wheels
« on: October 31, 2009 - 09:48:39 PM »
Wheel Vintiques sells reproduction rallye wheels.  They say the wheels are exact to oem specs in every way.  But they also mention there is no bead lock.
I thought all wheels used bead locks since back in the 60's.   Maybe I'm too used to the newer rims.
Front and rear sway bars and wheels without bead locks sounds like a mistake.

Bead lock is 99% not street legal (one company is making a DOT beadlock now) and is only really used on low tire pressure applications such as off-roading and drag racing.

the bead lock actually bolts onto the edge of the rim & clamps the beads into place on the rim
