What hole does the heater control cable come out of?
« on: November 01, 2009 - 10:05:37 PM »
For and A/C car.

I'm putting mine back in and want to put it in it's original hole.  A pic or just a description of the location will do.

Thanks

Thank you vertman!  I know about all of those holes already. But where does the heater temp control cable go through for a A/C car?  I see yours is an A/C car. Did you forget to mark that one?

Looking at this pic Glennster posted it appears to sneak out the same opening as one of the evaporator tube.

The cable does not come out of that hole as the evaporator tubes are tight up against the firewall with it's rubber mounting gasket.  I have an A/C car in storage. I can just go out and check it out next month if someone with an original A/C car doesn't chime in.

Thanks

That sure looks like a 'Cuda firewall.  No Road Lamp hole on a Challenger.

Rob,

It comes thru by the lower right corner of the master cylinder plate.

Thanks Mike.

I just got back from my Dad's house, where I keep my car. I looked at that hole too. It came out under my clutch pedal retainer bracket just like in your picture. On someone's firewall pic, it is the one marked insulation retainers.  My car was an original non-A/C car that I added air to around 1985, so I wanted to check with a factory air owner. Thanks again.

There's a clip that keeps it secured to the cowl lip edge.
Hard part to find as I don't think anyone is making it.

It is not my car, it was posted on here before and i kept it for reference.  However, I do believe it is for a Challenger.

I have one for a Cuda as well.

I had the clip and also the rubber grommet that pushes through the firewall to seal the cable, I just couldn't remember what hole it came out of.  here is a pic of the clip and where it attaches.

Here are some pictures from my 71 R/T Challenger. I remember taking the inside one because I thought it was odd that the cable ran thru the insolation plug instead of it's own hole.
