Frame rail is out and the new replacement is pinned in place.  Tomorrow I will weld it in and get the car back on the rotisserie.

WOW!

Lots of work and a lot of great progress.  You should be very happy with how it's coming.

Have you though about the front cowl brace from XV?  I was just thinking about that since you're using yours as an index point to locate your frame rail.

I have not thought about the cowl braces but I will and I see XV carries sub-tie connectors.  I was thinking hard about those.  This is the time to install them if I am going to do it.

I see. Thanks.  I don't think I will add it.  Does it add much support?  the original is pretty thin.  Looks like you could lift the car with this one.

Its been a good while since I made any progress on the 71RT. However I am setup to hit this project really hard. I've been doing car work on the side for 10 years and my projects have suffered. No more my 71RT and 71vert are going to get done.  Here are a few pictures from 10 years ago when I installed the frame rail.  Next I will post progress this last weekend.

Removed Roof skin.  10 years ago I was going to save it.  Not now.  I don't want the pits to deal with.  New skin on its way.  Also wire brushed 1/2 the inside and treated.
