Dash Installation - How Tough To Install with Windshield In?
« on: November 04, 2009 - 11:58:43 AM »
I would like to install my windsheid but was planning on waiting for my dash to be completed first, thinking it would be quite a bit easier to install w/o the windsheild in.  How difficult would it really be if the windshield was in first?

Install the dash first.Check to make sure all the gauges, lights, radio.and accessories work.Because you might have to pull the dash out if you have a problem.I pulled mine out 3 times before everything was right.Getting to the 4 screws in the front with the windshield in is a pain.

I have swapped the dash with the windsheild in place , I can tell you I simple could not have got the bolts in by the defroster vents by myself , I tried for over 2 hrs before my customers GF came home , I simple could not get my hands into the vent to put the bolts in place , her hands were much smaller & she installed the 4 bolts , I would still be there !!
The windsheild is usually the last piece I install besides the antenna mast if it is a non telescoping one

Thanks.  I'll certainly take your advice and wait on my dash.

If you are really careful you can get in there with a long 1/4 inch drive wobbly extension and the correct size universal socket (where the socket and universal are one piece). I would much rather do it with the windshield out as mentioned though.....
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....
