Small Block or Big Block in your car?
« on: November 05, 2009 - 08:05:47 PM »
Just wondered what size engine you have in your cars?  Mine is a 318 now but will be a 360 unless I can get a 340 for it.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Hey Gordon, How come you didn't list the 426 but you list a 400? At least the hemi was available in a e-body.

Well the 426 Hemi was not a real popular option and Sorry just did not think of it at the time.

Well the 426 Hemi was not a real popular option and Sorry just did not think of it at the time.

Small block people dont think about the most powerful engine ever made, cause all they ever saw was tail lights :smilielol:  How about a slant 6?  And it is very tough to find a 318 340 360 383 426 440 or /6 in any car anymore. The ones that are running are either bored atleast .030 over or stroked, so we now have a slew of many varieties of cubes.  All trying to achieve a big block status   I have a 446 and and 3 499's  and 1 stock bore 318 :2thumbs:

  Like 426HEMI I currently have a 318 but am planning a 360 mild build/sleeper.   :working:
As my '70 Challenger will be a cruiser and appears to have the original motor, I prefer the lighter motor which will still keep the chevy & frauds behind me.   :burnout:   :stirpot:

I have a 340, which will stay in the engine bay for a while longer, but I have begun buying parts for swapping to "other".

Charger has a 383....originally a 318 car. Duster has the original 318 and the Coronet was a 318 car but there's nothing now.

340, #s matching, all stock, never bored out or taken apart.  :)

Big block just do not sound as good as small blocks even if they weigh less.   :stirpot:

When I bought my Challenger I was looking for a big block, and love it.

With the Cuda, which is now a 318 car, we will be going for big cube small block
