Who drive fast in curves?
« on: November 05, 2009 - 10:28:30 PM »
Option one

Any of you guys like to hammer your cars hard in the curves and on curvy roads?  Just tryin to run it to the max?  How often? Most every time you get the chance?

Option two

Or do you like to full throttle it in the straights, going through the gears, getting on the interstate or first from the traffic light?

A muscle car was built for street performance , hot action, fast forward fun.  Full blown, wide open throttle fun on the blvd, side by side, nosing ahead.  The young has missed the best performance times when they 60's rolled out the fastest fun cars that hit the streets.  Everyone wanted high jackers, glass packs, L60 tires, headers, aluminum intakes, and a 3/4 cam.

50 years has went by and we still feel the energy.   God, it's been fun huh guys?

I did a whole lot of #1 as a kid - on gravel / dirt roads with the T/A.

Once it is back together, I will find a place to do it again too.

Option one for me,    :naughty:  cannot bring back the good years but a bit of spirited driving when conditions are good.   :burnout:
In our valley where I live there are a few deadbeats with beat up cars so they need to be avoided.   :poopoke:

option 2 for me I love just slowly pulling up to the on ramp of the interstate and taking it through the gears.  Side by side back and forth cruises are a lot of fun too.

I find my car to be fairly poor at the corners, but the sticky tires, lower profile and lower ride height help. I run the twisties the best i can, and full throttle getting on the highway!

Whether it's in a straight line or cornering, I just like to drive it as hard as the car can handle. With a 440 it's better in a straight line though.  :burnout:

I used to love going fast in curves, and since where I lived, in the north of Norway, most roads were pretty curvy, every day were a day on the twisties. And in old Honda Civics no less.
After having moved to Oslo where the roads are straighter, there were less of that, and more of red light action with my beaters. When I got my Challenger, it's mostly been kickdowns on the highway. But I'm improving the suspension now, got an Alterktion installed, not yet aligned, and a four-link to come, so a little more speed in the curves with the Chally should be coming soon.

AHH, Alan you bring back some memories.... There's a back road that runs from S. Huntsville to Guntersville, Hobbs Island Road.  Me and my buddy Earl, who had a 69 Mustang, would take this one long sweeping curve as fast as we dared just to try & scare the beJesus out of the other.  No guard rails & if you ran off the road about a 20' drop to the bottom land below. We would hit about 90 before the bias tires started screamin....as well as the passenger.

Don't care much for the curve stuff, too easy to loose control and.................... bad things happen. But if you do run the curves STAY ON YOUR SIDE OF THE ROAD ! And if you don't have the torque and horsepower to pull out of the curves your facing to experience an "Oh sh!t" moment. The safest way to run is realitavely straignt lanes. Be safe, if you want to go max take it to the drag strip.  :2thumbs:

Can't get enough of both options.  :grinyes:

There's a road that goes from 4 lanes into 2 lanes on a curve (Start of Storrow Drive at the Harvard Colliseum for you guys familiar with Boston.)

I like to get into "pole position" then dice it up with those who keep up on the curve....safely.  ;D

Yes and yes!I love hitting the limits of grip on an on ramp or curvy road whenever I get a clear road ahead but I also like going stright as fast as I can and hit the drags regularly for not only the fun but also the competition of bracket racing.

I don`t really agree-there is plenty of potential to "run out of talent" going straight also and I`ve seen the videos(and live)!

I haven't got an e-body on the road but the Daytona IrocR/T is a freakin blast in both of those situations
I did learn a valuable lesson this summer, don't let off in a corner when the turbo is spooled up :roflsmiley:the guy in the porsche that was trying to keep up with me as we were getting on the Taconic thruway got an eyefull as the R/T spun right around and into the grass. He stopped and talked for a couple of minutes, was in shock that a little Dodge could pull on his $100000 porsche like that.

Both! Hard to pick on over the other!  I like steering with the rear end and throttle sometimes!
