1972 Dodge Charger *SOLD*
« on: November 06, 2009 - 02:27:49 AM »
11972 Dodge Charger Hardtop
Mileage: 95,893 original miles
WH23G2A
Color – one repaint- light green metallic (originally dark green metallic)
Interior – Tan and white
Exterior paint condition = good, older paint but shows nicely
Interior = very clean
All receipts have been kept to verify any work done to the vehicle

Regretfully, I’m selling my 1972 Dodge Charger. I have owned this vehicle for three years and put much work and money into it. The car is 1972 hardtop. The car was originally dark green metallic as evidenced by original paint on interior, trunk, and firewall. At some point the car was hit in the front left fender and it was replaced by a petty blue colored fender and the whole car received a repaint in light green metallic. During this time, the fender tag was never put back on and lost. The paint has very lightly scraped away revealing petty blue underneath the fender. The car has a tan vinyl canopy top with drip moldings. The front concealed headlights open and close flawlessly and all other lights except the front left fender mounted turn signal work. I just put in a new trunk lock as the original one finally fell apart last week. Inside, both the front and rear seats had received brand new white seat covers. The car has its original AM radio, but an aftermarket tape AM/FM player was fitted so I don’t know if the original radio works. There are two aftermarket 6 by 9 speakers in the package tray. All lights inside work as well as signals. The dash has sun cracks, but other than that the interior is in gorgeous condition. The best part about this car is the condition of the body. The car has been in Ohio since 2003, which before that was in New York, and I have no idea where else from. The body is very straight along with very rust free. The car is about 97% rust free. There is smaller surface rust spots and small bubbling in the paint around the rear window channels, the trunk, and the lower rockers. Both rockers in front of the rear wheel wells are the rustiest parts of the car. They have slight corrosion. There is also one small pinhole in the trunk. The car still has the original full size spare in the trunk along with jack and trunk mat. All the original VIN stickers are on the body along with the tire information chart. The car runs and drives fantastic, but the carb does have problems and sometimes will not let the car stay running. The engine starts right away and does not smoke or make noises. The left hand muffler is ripped open, so the car is decently loud.

Approximately 1000 miles ago the car got:
tuneup – oil change, flushed radiator, PCV valve, air filter, new Champion plugs, fuel filter, lower fuel hose, coolant bypass hose, cap/rotor

Brakes- many new brake parts professionally installed - $364.01
-new master cylinder
-Replaced lefthand rear w/cylinder
-Replaced lefthand rear line, on axle and right hand line
-Replaced front brake shoes and hardware
-Replaced Left hand front rubber brake line and left hand metal line

Drivetrain:
318-2 barrel motor
904 automatic transmission with column shifter
7 ¼ rear end

Wheels/Tires
14” centerline knockoffs all around with Kelly Charger tires with 80% tread left
Original spare is still in trunk with jack and factory greasemark

Options
- E-Z Order Package- includes power steering, AM radio, remote-control outside mirror, white sidewalls, Light group, deluxe wheel covers, inside hood release, variable-speed wipers (3-speed), undercoating, and automatic transmission
-Light group- includes fender-mounted turn signals, ignition light with time delay, map and courtesy light, ash receiver light, glove box light, and trunk light.
-appears to have deluxe package- includes 3-spoke steering wheel with simulated wood-grained center, carpeting, dual horns( been removed), roof-drip moldings, and wheel-lip moldings.
-cigarette lighter
-possibly rear speaker, but not quite sure.
-canopy top
-concealed headlights
-rallye dash

Others that may or may not be options:
-chrome side trim
-overhead shoulder belts
-chrome sill plates
-chrome mud flaps

What needs fixing:
-The carburetor needs adjusting, car takes a while to warm up- an unopened carb rebuild kit is included.
-the left front fender mounted turn signal needs a bulb, the assembly comes with the car
-a new washer bottle is needed, but it comes with the cracked original with pump w/wiring
-front defogger hoses are either not there or not hooked up as blower works but does not get air to windshield.
- no horn
-linkage for the right side wiper blade is not hooked up.
-gas gauge does not work, probably is just not grounded.
-the turn signal lever does not hold in the right turn signal position.

Here's a link to the site. I'm a member and I'll post a link to this ad. They have a rule for placing for sale or wanted ads. You must have 20 posts before you can post an ad. If you're a fan of these cars, it's a decent place to hang out.
