Wanted: Front Drum Brake Spindles/Drums
« on: November 07, 2009 - 07:47:03 PM »
I'm looking for a pair of front drum brake spindles/drums for B or E-body. Actually, I think A-body might work also. I'm sure there are guys out there who have swapped to discs and have these laying around.

I just need them to get a car rolling (spindles are missing), so CHEAP is the operative word. The closer to me the better (Zip 27316) to keep shipping low. Did I mention CHEAP?

Thanks

I am just getting ready to do a drum to disc swap and will have no need for the spindles or drums, I am in Mountlake Terrace WA. however. Send me a pm and lets see what we can come up with.

Hey Steve, if no one has hooked up with you yet you might want to search the local yards for FJM spindles.  I got mine for $50 for the pair.

PS...I looked at www.car-part.com...looks like Hunt's in Asheville has them for $50/pr and Auto Brokers in Pittsboro has them for $100/pr.

Thanks Brooks.  :2thumbs:

What's the best way to search for that part on that site? (I.E., what did you use for year/make/model/part ?)

Did FMJ cars have front drums? If not, cheap disk spindles would be cool. Call me ignorant, but I did not know these would fit B/E body.

Was Hunt's in Asheville or Asheboro? If it's Asheboro, I know Mr. Hunt. I never thought to ask him and he's a Mopar guy...duh! LOL

The F (Volare, Aspen), J (Mirada?) and M (LeBaron, 5th Ave) bodies all came with disc brakes, only.  The spindle is slightly taller than the B/E piece.  I always search for 1985 Dodge Diplomats just because so many of them were cop cars with P/S coolers, etc.

All FJM cars used the 10.875" rotor but the large adapter for the 11.75" rotor bolts right on.

Using these spindles seems to be gaining popularity daily.  They have minor suspension angle disadvantage at initial launch for drag cars, but seem to offer certain camber advantages on street cars.

Oops, Asheboro not Asheville.

So is this basically the same spindle as 73-79 B-body?

I don't think so, I think those are the same as "R" bodies?...Cordobas, etc.

I have a complete pair of spindles and drums that came off a 1970 R/T Chally,
if you haven't found any. I'm located outside Wash. DC but we can work out
somthing for shipping. I have many other parts for tha 70 Challenger.
