I have a coworker who is looking at a used Tahoe(I can't remember what year). She said it has over 100k and those those "big wheels" on it.she said she had heard that they might cause wear and tear on the trans. So is this true and to what detriment or false??

It's more wear on suspension components, wheel bearings and brakes than the trans. Unless they went to a taller than stock overall height, then it would put more load on the trans.
