I'm talking about the one on the bottom of the shifter that takes up the loose space on the shift slider plate. The old slapsitck fit this hole and moved the shift indicator properly. If the shifter bottom was made about and inch longer, it would have fit in the hole and taken care of the problem. I considered buying a new plate for the 70 shifter just to cut it out to fit better. I noticed a rubber around the bottom of your new shifter that would eliminate it.

Do you have a 70 E-Body? I really don't remember having to do any mods. I can take better pictures if you'd like.

Hi,

as I rebuilt my 70 shifter recently I read a lot across the internet. The attached pic is from SLapStik problems and Are These Slapstick Parts? � The Dodge Challenger Message Board There you see the different holes in the plastic shifter plate. The one on the right is for the 70 (maybe 71 too, but I dunno correctly).Depending on this you need to get the right shifter I guess.

You bet. That's the one. The 72 up have the big square hole for the slapstick t handle and the gunslinger doesn't go down enough to fill it. I fab'd a piece but the shift indicator doesn't always line up properly (mostly park and first). I was wondering if gunslinger was supposed to include a sleeve for that purpose.
