Auto shifter handle options?
« on: November 10, 2009 - 06:50:27 PM »
I tried looking on here first before I posted this but most of the pictures are gone.
What are my options for pistol grip shifters for my slapstick unit?
I see this one?
http://www.duncan-motor-sports.com/3.html
http://www.pistolgrip727.com/ but no pictures?
http://www.restorick.com/proddetail.asp?prod=AutoPistolGrip
and the Autogrip
Did I miss any?
Which do you like best and why?

Brad,

I never heard of Duncan before, but that shaft might be a tad long for an E-Body.   :dunno:

This is the only pic of my Gunslinger(pistolgrip727) shifter. Sadly this is from the wrong side. It actually has a trigger in the front that you can lift up with your finger to shift. They are at Carlisle every year if you want to see for yourself.

Gunslinger from the side.

I don't care for the trigger on it, but the optional wood inserts you can get for them look great.

I did buy the real wood inserts 2 years ago. I need to post a pic, but yes...It looks much better than the plastic. Can you wait a day for me to post Brad??

Sure Mike! I noticed yours is a 70 shifter? Round at the bottom? Yes ? No?
4drbrnko is that a rubber hose at the bottom of yours?
I ask because at this point I have both a 70 and a 71-74 shifter.
Do you guys like the straight angle?
With the Ducan shifter I wonder if it being that long if the shifter is in a comfortable position and with it being that long how strong is it? I could picture something bending if one got hammering it? :dunno:

I have the angled auto-grip I purchased at Carlisle. I like it. It fit well and works properly! :2thumbs:

The black is a rubber sleeve, I assume to eliminate the possibility of rattles?
I have a set of real woodgrain inserts, I just never got around to installing them.

The external trigger bugs me for some reason?

You might want to PM 72challorange about the first one from duncan mototrsports.  He might have some insight because I think he sold one several months ago....  :dunno:
