vacuum lines
« on: November 13, 2009 - 12:39:20 PM »
Can you replace individual vacuum lines that go to from the control lever to the AC/heater box or do you have to replace all the lines at once?  I tried to pull the lines out of the plug at the control end and it is as if they are glued in.  I do not want to break the plug and am not sure if the plug only is available.

Has anyone ever replaced the vacuum lines under their dash?  Any advise would be appreciated.  Thanks!

I don't see any reason why you couldn't just replace one line. Although I think I would rather replace them all while I'm there. Sometimes it's easier to cut the line off with a razor blade.

I am not sure if the lines can be removed from the gang plug behind the control unit

I tried to pull really hard without breaking anything and nothing happened.  I thought about cutting them off, but wanted to be sure that a new single line can replace an old one.  I think that I will put it back together using the old for now.  I was trying to be proactive and replace before they are bad, but I guess I will wait.  Thanks.

You could always cut the lines & use a coupler to extend out from there

........... and do not forget to label the lines before you cut them. Otherwise you might get heat when you want to be cool. 8)

All the vacuum lines are missing on my Challenger, are you able to trace the lines and post where they go. Several members in the past have asked the same question.

That firewall plug was molded around the vacuum hoses. One hose could probably be replaced if the old one were cut flush to the plug, then carefully drilled out or cut with an x-acto knife.

Sorry for not looking at this earlier.  I just ended up reinstalling the same lines after I tried to blow into each line and there were no leaks.  I have already reinstalled it and I never took any pics.
