    Passion-4mopars, quick question; In my stash of e-body switch panels that I parted out, I have 4 different wiper switches. Variable speed-big round back
    2-speed with the rear the size of the vari-speed switch
    2-speed with the rear smaller in diameter
    3-speed with the rear smaller in diameter (with a wired in resistor)

    Can you tell me what years these 2 and 3-speed switches were used on? 

    Rob, my 3 e-bodies all have vari-wipers. If you need the right switch and I have it, I'll trade you.

    Had to edit this.. my (2) 2 speed switches are different

    Hey ShelbyDogg,
    I have it written down somewhere the applications of the different switches.
    I'd be glad to trade if I can figure this deal out. I have tested till' I'm worn out.
    I was thinking of having the motor and the switch rebuilt/gone through and just eliminating both those items for fault.
    Doesn't my pigtail only work w/ one switch or no.
    I'll look for the switch info.

    Rob74, if you don't have the right wires in your bulkhead connector or switch, something can burn up. I did this years ago by plugging a different switch panel on to my harness. Something smoked in the wiper circuit. Either the switch or motor, I can't remember.  If you look in a service manual, it tells you the different cnnections for either the varialble or 2-speed plug pins. This is in my '71 book so I don't know if 74 had 2 setups also.

    I looked in my manual and it shows that you could have either a 2 spd or 3 spd. motor.
    I remember the wipers working ok before. Only a few times that I had to use them since I've owned this Challenger. My first 74 never had a problem.
    I'm sending the switch to Slotts for insp and or rebuild and the motor out also.
    Thanks for the input and I'll let you know how it plays out.
    I'd rather be working on my 340 project but it's on the backburner.

    You should not have a variable switch for 74. There should just be "clicks" when you turn it.

    I suppose if you have a 70 or 71 Harness, you might have the right switch for that wiring.

    How many connectors on your switch? (70-71 have two, the later cars just have one bigger connector)

    Well the switch I have now is the # 2770380. Clicks and the sweep for variable.
    Just one conn. on the harness pigtail, well the 2nd I read was for washer.
    There is light at the end of the tunnel.

    Wiper motor tests fine, all three speeds and park on my bench.   It is wired correctly to the bulkhead connector.  I can't get the motor to do anything but run the way it should Rob.

    Rob,

    Good talking to you. Take a look at these wiring connections:

    At the switch:
    A – Brown w/ white tracer
    B – Pink (Power In)
    P – Dark Blue
    W – Brown
    _____________________

    F2 – Dark Green
    F1 – Red

    At the bulkhead connector:
    1 – Brown w/ white tracer (A)
    2 – Red (F1)
    5 – Dark Blue (P)
    6 – Dark Green (F2)
    19 – Brown (W)

    Let me know what you find.

    He Guys.  What was the solution for this?  I'm having the exact issue with my 73 cuda wipers.  I just found this so I have not tried all the switch grounding yet, But I read all the way through and there was no final fix.

    The fix was to check your grounds, then check you motor, speeds and park function with Passion4mopar's test, then verify all of your colored wires are in the right spots on your switch.

    If they are in the wrong spot, release the locking tab, then move the wire to the correct spot.

    Get testing.

    Great info guys.  I finally got something fixed on the old car.  I removed the panel and all the switches.  took the metal plate off and cleaned it up with a wire wheel.  I remounted it and all the switches along with a new ground wire from the wiper switch to a grounding block under the dash.  it all works now and I have all my wiper speeds and even park.  Unfortunately, I replaced the motor before I found this thread.
