    NO spark

    I have changed the MSD box, the distributor cap, rotor, pick up coil, voltage regulator and plug wires.  Still no spark, what am I missing?  Car ran fine, drove it home one night it would not start in the morning.  I replaced the coil and it started right up, ran once and will not start again.  This is killing me what else is there to replace?  Key comes on, tac lights up car turns over but no spark.......... 340 motor auto.

    HELP!!!!!!! :swear: :banghead:

    Check the two wires that run from the distributor back to the MSD. Maybe a bad connection is causing you to lose the trigger signal?

    is the small red wire from the mMSD connected to both the blue 12v run wire & the brown start wire so the box is powered while cranking

    can the park/nuetral switch have anything to do with the ignition?  In drive the lights flicker and the car will not turn over, in nuetral the car will turn over but still no spark....

    A bad switch should not allow the car to start.  Try unplugging it and plugging it back in for starters.

    Noting that I don't like MSD ignitions, and suspect them of dying every time there is a problem, I would make sure the battery is well charged and the voltage is not dropping when the starter is engaged.  If the drop is enuf, the ignition may not fire

    Not necessarily on MSD but have read several times where a bad tach was causing start problems...If you have a tach try disconnecting it.

    In drive it isn't supposed to turn over and it should in neutral so the switch is fine. Make sure the engine is solidly grounded - battery to  engine block and block to frame. Ensure that 12vdc is at the MSD when cranking. Double check the wiring and if you are 100% sure it is correct and in good condition, and still no spark, change the coil. If there is still no spark that only leaves the MSD unit.

    MSDs (and I'm sure others but I despise MSD) have been known to not work out of the box.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, I've had 2 6AL boxes not work, one of them just like yours where it fired up, then something inside the box fried, but in that case it smoked quite a bit so it was pretty obvious that it was the box.  After that one I switched to a stock MP electronic setup and no problems in 10+ years.

    I  also have had numerous problems with the MSD systems & I am not a fan of their over priced ign

    I had same problem! Still not sure what it was but the earth for the msd was a tad loose so tightened it up and had no problems since? Battery was a bit low as well. You need minimum 12v for box to work.
