cuda firewall
« on: November 16, 2009 - 03:05:45 PM »
Hi, i am going to have to either patch a ton, or replace the firewall in my 70 cuda. I seen goodmark has a full firewall. I was wondering if this is any good, or if there is a better place to get it.
Has anybody done this and is it pain in the ass, or not to bad?

I am still not sure what way to go. I have to replace the inner fenders as well.

Also who makes the best quarter panels, inner wheel tubs, and lower pieces off the trunk(name?)
Thanks for any help!

AMD has the best replacement panels to date. You can order a free catolog online at autometaldirect .com check the member sites for good pricing.

it was not bad, I changed the upper and lower.
It fits without a lot of trubble.

I recommend to buy AMD- or Goodmark-Parts

That came out beautiful, btw.  :2thumbs:

I too, replaced my firewall, cowl, inner fenders & rad support – all with AMD. It's strong stuff. Since your replacing the inners, it will be easy for ya. It was a first for me and everything turned out amazing!. First welding project, really. PM me with any questions you have – I know I had many. I'm doing my floors, rear rails, tubs etc right now – I'm a bit overwhelmed. good luck. oh, and your lower drop off pieces are called trunk extensions.

The buttom inside and the hole body outside is paintet with this stuff.
It's a US-Product it calls Keen or Kens :clueless:
The material is like caoutchouc
We need about 8kg of this stuff for the body
Unfortunatly we have humid weather  :eek4: here in Switzerland
and sometimes gravel

It's build for the eternity

Great work on the firewall.  I like seeing this much effort put into restoration of an e-body.  Awesome...

Oh yea, I also like your spot welder.  Did you make the long electrode holders or did they come with the welder.  What is the welder brand?  Does is do a good job?  After welding, does the weld pull metal if pulled apart?

Sorry I don't know the brand... it's a old machine.
The long electrodes are coming with the welder.
If you clean from time to time the electrodes
and make them pointy they work perfect without holes
on the welding point.
