The Good News: Found Broadcast Sheet, Bad News: Its not mine !
« on: November 16, 2009 - 11:01:00 PM »
The subject says it all.  I have a 70 Cuda, so that part is right, but the VIN is wrong and from what I can tell about a few of the options I researched, the car has better options than mine  :(

Anyway, is there a place or places where I can post the VIN and see if anyone is looking for their sheet ?  The VIN is:

BS23N0B242298

I found it behind the driver seat plactic back panel.  I do assume that the seat is from this car, but I just bought it and the bottom of the seat is a wierd vinyl, while the passenger seat has the grainy vinyl.  So I was assuming that the prior owner had it redone, but was curious why they never found it.

Other codes:

Engine: 087
Trans: 675
Axle: 077

You should contact Barry Washington AKA - AlaskaTA, he has a website that list found broadcast sheets..... http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/index.shtml

Or he will chime in here shortly.  Also check these othe location for additional sheets...
Taped to the back side / top of the glove box insert.
Under the front bucket seats in the springs
Inside the bucket seat backs
Under the rear seat bottom
In the rear seat back.
Under the package tray(speaker shelf)
Under the carpet

Matbe even the one to your car.  :2thumbs:

Thanks; I'll contact him if he does not contact me first.  I also have to talk to the original owner about something so I'm going to ask him if he got that driver seat where I found it from another donor car.

Regarding the other locations, when you say "Taped to the back side / top of the glove box insert", do you mean on the outside of the insert, so I have to remove it to look there, right ?

I've checked under the bucket seats and under the rear seat, but I still have to remove the rear seat and check the speaker shelf.  The carpet may have to wait until I get new carpet, which may be soon as its original now and smells with mouse pee.  :eek4:

Thanks

-Kevin

Not uncommon to find a few broadcast sheets and even for other cars.  As stated, Barry will chime in and he is the best option for the broadcast sheet.  Visit his site and you'll quickly see how much time and effort he puts in to his "hobby".
The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Thanks for the mention guys.

I have not heard of the car this sheet matches before, but I will start a file on it in case I do. Can you email me with a scan of it?

The most common place to find extra sheets in these cars is inside the front seat backs.

Also, if you do not have AC, you can check the back of your glove box liner for a sheet without removing the liner.

Best of luck with the search!

Barry

As Barry knows already, I was up late last night putting my car's actual broadcast sheet together.  It was on top of the glove box liner.  Well, sort of.

The first clue that it was there were very small (1/8" size) pieces in the glove box from a mouse nest that I was pulling out from above the box.  The pieces got bigger and bigger (if you call thumbnail size big).  Once I removed the liner, I got most of the top section, including a perfectly intact piece with the entire VIN.  The bottom portion was actually behind the box smashed against the A/C.  The middle section was in lots of pieces in a large mouse nest under the dash between two A/C ducts.  All told, the sheet was in about 100 pieces.  I have it about 90% reassembled.  The other broadcast I found was an invaluable reference in re-assembly.

I have some books on order, but if anyone can help me decode my engine and carb, I'd really appreciate it.  They are:

Line 4
------
Engine : 089
Carb: 62

fwiw, the numbers for engine and carb respectively for the other sheet I found are 087 and 36.

My broadcast also has grease-pencil marks on it and items circled in ink.  The other one I found behind the seat for another car was clean.

And, does anyone know of an online resource for decoding ?  I found this one for Chargers:

http://1970chargerregistry.com/Production/rt_sheet_decoder.html

I just would like one for Challengers/Cudas.

Thanks for the help everyone.  This was a lot of fun.
