Luggage Rack
« on: November 17, 2009 - 02:44:49 AM »
Anybody have a luggage rack on their Cuda? I found a nice looking unit on CL and could use pic to see if it looks good or what. I'd hate to drill a buncha holes in my decklid and not like the look...
Thanks

If you don't like the rack, send a pm and might buy it and use it on my E-body...

I love the luggage rack.  Many give me a hard time and say I should have gone with a wing but I wouldn't change it.

I think I am going to like the look of the rack, I talked to the seller and he doesn't have the mounting hardware.
Is it going to be worth it trying to hunt the pieces down?  Is there any reproduction "feet" out there? He only wants 50$ but I don't want to spend a bunch of cash buying the feet.
Thanks for the replies! :2thumbs:
Edit- found the feet on e-bag 95$ not bad, total investment $150 seems reasonable to me

$50? WOW, that's a steal. I've seen hardware packages for the luggage racks somewhere. BE&A or one of the other big vendors, I think.

Yeah that's what I said! The old boy is even willing to meet me at the local muscle car lot so I can buy it! I talked to him for a few and he has a 69 RR for sale now at the lot, also tells me he has had way too may Hemi cars to count! And is currently restoring a 74 Cuda, which is where the rack came from (extra with car)

What is BE&A? by the way

Man, not to be pessimistic, but did he say it is an original one?  Those things can sell for huge bucks if so.  It might be worth it to buy and resell.

He says it's an original unit off of a 74 Cuda, I will post pics of it when I get it tomorrow. I plan on slapping it on the cuda since the Original 70 go wing (another great score from CL) is already on the Challenger.

They are a resto parts supplier. I took a look and they have complete racks, but no hardware kits. Wish I could remember where I saw them.........

There a pict of a my 71 with rack in my sig link.  Make sure its a Mopar e-body rack.  It was used on 71 B bodies as well.  Vette racks look similar but are way different side by side.  Same for AMC Javelin racks.  I have two more originals.  Good luck with the mounting feet.  I've never seen repop feet for them.

I like the luggage rack look and have one on my convertible.  I don't think they are really very practical but those cars have very small trunks.
