factory sway bar question
« on: November 19, 2009 - 07:13:22 AM »
I dont have sway bars on my 72 barracuda...they were on my "eventually"  list though.

Woud I be better off buying a used set of factory bars for a 70-74 cuda (guy wants $100 for both) or buying new "performance" ones ones at 4 times the price?

Can I get the factory hardware if this guy doesnt have it?  Will mounting them to my car be a pain or bolt-in kidn of deal?

$100 for both is a great deal. In time, you may find that the front bar needs to be bigger, but you can find these used and at swap meets for half or more off retail.

the biggest issue si getting the lower control arms with the sway bar bracket or welding the braket onto the arm to use the sway bar , the rear bar need the plate that pinches between the diff & spring & that part is generally missing & hard to find alone , if he has the plates with the raer bar all for $100 it is an extremely good deal

LAA66 posted a pic in this thread that gives you an idea of what you are going to need.

The sway bar on The Engineers car is an aftermarket piece.

Thanks guys.

The seller sold the bars already.....

However, he says he has a second set he might sell me "for the right price".....he says a friend of his sold a set fir $350 at carlisle so I think this guy is probably looking for more than $100 this set...LOL...he has the rear plates for them, but no frame brackets....and the front brackets need fixing.

I dont know if it makes sense to spend the money on used factory bars and search for the hardware or just buy new aftermarkets.  :clueless:

If you want everything original search for them, otherwise go with the aftermarket and get what you need and save the hassles.   :2thumbs:
Guy might have realised what the true value is for those parts and is trying to jack up the price.   :money:

I've been looking and looking at my plates and can't tell if there's any difference between them. My question is...are they symmetrical or is there a left/right side? Thanks in advance.
